Expectations, Reality and Dream

“Expectations can kill you, take a distance from the world, from your monkey mind, no attachment. Just be nothing..be zero… just pray, wait and give it all to the Almighty. Let God plays His scenario and keep our mind zero, because most of the time what make us suffer is our mind! “

I am a dreamer, and I put a lot of effort to achieve it. Usually I make several plans A, B, C, D, and then I feel safe and comfort. By the same time, consciously or not I also make some expectations, even create imagination in my mind what would happen with plan A, B, C, D, and what is the worst case.

But sometimes, life is not that simple. Plan A, doesn’t work. Plan B, C, D, and even the worst case that I have imagined don’t work either. All the plans are just collapse. I tried to make the best plans that I could, but at the end of the day, like or dislike, He knocked the gavel and chose the one. The fact that finally happened is even beyond the worst case that I’ve never think of. Can you imagine what does my heart feel? It’s broken and It’s painful my friend, really painful.

But, I read somewhere that “God is continually refining us, shaping us, molding us and taking us along a journey to WHO we were meant to be.” I definitely agree. Although it is painful, God knows the best. It’s one of His way to shape us. There are many lessond learned after the process of being shaped and molded, and the best one for me is this: expectations can kill you, take a distance from the world, from your monkey mind, no attachment. Just be nothing…be zero. Sometimes we even have to give up because there is nothing more we can do, just pray, wait and give it all to the Almighty. Let God plays His scenario and keep our mind zero, because most of the time what make us suffer is our mind!

It doesn’t mean that we don’t have to make some plans nor to have a dream. Dream can keep our life alive. Plans can help us going in the direction we want to achieve and avoid procrastination. One of my friend gave me a good advice:” You can make the best plans, but life can (and usually does) always come in between to make you adapt your plan. You can only make short-term plans, the medium-term is already more difficult, and for the longer term, you can only have aspirations. We have to be here and now, not in the past nor in the future.”

So, what we need is to make the best plans, but don’t get too attached to our plans and expectations, keep making a distance, keep living in the present time. Then, if our plans and expectations have ruined, of course it’s disappointing and hurtful, but keep in mind that it’s not the end of our live. The show must go on. It doesn’t mean that we have to say goodbye to our dream. The dream is still there, waving and smiling, it’s just a matter of time or a matter of changes because life is as a series of changes. We just need to adapt or create a new plan.

Don’t be fooled by the ruined plans, my friend. On the other hand, maybe we should be thankful as it means the process of shaping and molding is ongoing, our journey to who we were meant to be is nearing. Life must go on, keep smiling and stronger standing because the dream is still there, waiting us to be hug when the time to achieve has come.
